NCA foresees strong Texcare turnout
Exhibitors and attendees are lining up for Texcare ’09, the National Cleaners Association trade show in Secaucus, NJ, Oct. 17-18.
Looming regulations in the Northeast, combined with a need for cleaners to find new ways to build dollar volume and cut expenses are among the reasons cited by Ann Hargrove, the NCA’s special projects director, for a surge in booth sales and attendee pre-registration in the months leading up to the biennial show.
“We’ve been contacted by a lot of folks who never exhibited with us before who think they have something to help the cleaners make money, save money or increase customer retention.” Hargrove reports. “And the number of ‘green’ companies with something to sell the industry is just unbelievable. There’s going to be a lot of new things for cleaners to see on the floor, and the cleaners must be anxious for the show because they are already calling to pre-register.”
Part of the reason for the heightened interest may be that the shaky economy kept many cleaners from traveling to other trade shows, with the thought that they could go locally for less and see much of the same thing. Whatever the reason, NCA is anticipating a record number of exhibitors and attendees to be on hand for the Saturday and Sunday show at the Meadowlands Exposition Center.
Admission to the Saturday and Sunday morning seminars will be free. Cleaners will also have free admission to the show floor.
According to Hargrove, the morning educational seminars will be both exiting and timely. Featured topics include: The Search for Cost Effective Search Engine Optimization; Building a Website that Works; Regulatory Updates: Perc and Alternatives Are Under Fire; and Identifying Money Making Garments: How to Upcharge, How to Process.
In addition, NCA is sponsoring a special pre-show event with a one-day seminar presented by marketing diva, Lois Geller of the Lois Geller Marketing Group.
“The response to Ms. Geller’s presentation at last year’s Brainstorming was so overwhelming, we decided to invite her back,” Hargrove said. “She’s going to talk about marketing, but this will be an in-depth, no holds barred presentation that will send cleaners home with a ‘to do’ that is guaranteed to dramatically improve their profit picture.”
The room has a limited capacity, so seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with NCA Platinum members entitled to one complimentary attendee. Registration for the pre-event on Friday, October 16 is $495 for NCA members and $595 for non-members. For the second person from the same plant, registration is $245 for members, $295 for non-members. For more information, call Vivian Benn at NCA (800) 888-1622, ext. 203.
On Saturday night, NCA will host the Saturday Night at the Races dinner. Held at the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Racetrack, this has become a favorite event among exhibitors and cleaners alike.
“I don’t know if it’s because the food is really good, the networking is great or it’s a lucky night for everyone and they are winning, but this dinner is always a sell-out,” Hargrove said.
