DLI heads to Las Vegas for annual Five-Star Conference
Las Vegas has always been one of the most popular venues for industry events, so
it was virtually a no-brainer for the Drycleaning Laundry Institute to select the Sin City once again to serve as host for its annual Five-Star
Marketing Conference.
After all, it is exactly what members requested.
“Attendees said they wanted to go back to Las Vegas, so we’re going back to Vegas,” said DLI Senior Vice President Mary Scalco. “The Venetian is a great property and we got an incredible deal on the hotel
suites. Every room is a suite and they’re only $179.”
The Venetian will host the event on Feb. 18 and 19.
It is open to DLI members only; however, non-DLI members may join DLI in order
to attend.
DLI Premier Club members are allowed to have one representative attend the
conference free of charge. Otherwise, the initial cost for registration is
$589.
Additional members from the same DLI-member company can sign up and take
advantage of a reduced rate of only $389 each per person.
The conference will begin on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. with opening remarks
provided by DLI CEO Bill Fisher.
The first program of the day will immediately follow at 8:45 a.m. It will
feature John Zimmerman, CEO of eRocketFuel, an Illinois-based internet
marketing company.
His two-hour seminar on “Marketing Through Social Networking - Twitter/Facebook” will explain what social networks are, discuss the demographics they appeal to
and explain how cleaners can use them to gain market share and profit.
At 10:45 a.m., Norman Way of Puritan Cleaners will lead an open discussion
focussing on cleaners who utilize Twitter and Facebook already.
Frank Kollman, a regular columnist for National Clothesline who is also a
partner in the law firm of Kollman & Saucier, PA, will help prepare cleaners for changes in the current labor laws
afterwards.
His 90-minute program entitled “OSHA and Labor Laws Under the New Administration” is slated to take place starting at 11:30 a.m.
From 2 to 3:30 p.m., Milt & Eddie’s owner Milt Chortikoff will take to the podium for “Marketing Class is in Session” from 2 to 3 p.m.
He will share his successful techniques that attract and retain customers and
have made him the world’s busiest drycleaner.
Closing out the conference’s first day will be a roud table discussion and open forum from 4 to 5 p.m.
On Friday morning, Al Lautenslager will present “Guerrilla Marketing in 30 Days” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Lautenslager is a popular marketing consultant who has authored a series of “Guerrilla Marketing” books that have sold over 14 million copies and are available in 39 languages.
He will urge attendees to get past the excuse of having no time, money or
motivation to market by demonstrating a 30-day marketing blueprint that can
help capture new customers and increase sales.
The conference will close following a round table exercise at 11 a.m. followed
by closing remarks.
Those planning on attending must register prior to Feb. 12, 2010.
To register by phone, contact Melissa Wagner at (800) 638-2627, ext. 1603.
