Charleston resort will host TCATA conference
Attendees of the Textile Care Allied Trades Association’s 2010 Conference will have plenty educational programs to sift through, but
first they’ll have to pull themselves away from the white sandy beaches of the Isle of
Palms.
The event is set to begin on Wednesday, April 28 and conclude the evening of
Saturday, May 1. It will be hosted at the Wild Dunes Resort, which will be
honoring a group rate of $265 per night for visitors.
The deadline cutoff for that rate, which is good for up to three nights prior
and three nights after the conference, is March 22. To make reservations,
contact the hotel at (800) 845-8880 prior to that date.
The theme for this year’s TCATA Conference is “The World and How We Connect to It.” The association has secured four speakers to discuss a wide range of business
topics including regulatory issues, online marketing and a global intelligence
report for business leaders.
The last topic will be presented from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday by Herb Meyer
who served as Special Assistant to the Director of the CIA and vice chairman of
the CIA’s National Intelligence Council.
He will discuss some of the national security, economic and cultural issues that
have dominated the news lately and what impact they may have on both small and
large businesses. He will also offer tips on what business owners should be
doing as a result.
The other three programs will take place on Friday morning, starting at 8 a.m.
with Jade West, Senior Vice President of the National Association of Wholesaler
Distributions.
Her seminar titled “What is Happening in Washington and Why Should You Care” will update attendees on important legislation that has already passed or is
currently being debated by Congress that can directly affect your business.
At 9 a.m., Bob DeStefano of SVM E-Business Solutions will present “How to Build an Online Marketing Machine.”
Some of the topics he will discuss include: creating an effective niche
marketing strategy; turning your website into a lead generation machine;
attracting new customers from search engines; selling more to existing
customers; and measuring the ROI on all of your marketing investments.
Wrapping up Friday’s educational sessions will be one from consultant Bill Keene at 11 a.m. who
will outline some of the issues of DOT, EPA and OSHA that could potentially
affect both employers and employees in the forseeable future.
In addition to the business programs, TCATA will host numerous networking
opportunities. On Wednesday, the association will host its board meeting at
1:30 p.m., its First Timers Reception at 6 p.m. and its Opening Reception at
6:30 p.m.
There will a dinner party at Boone Hall Plantation on Thursday night at a
closing reception and dinner on Saturday.
On Thursday, the association will also host a golf tournament beginning at 8
a.m.
Full registration packages for the conference are available for a price of $695
per member and $295 per spouse if paid prior to the early registration deadline
of March 31. After that date, the cost is $745 per member and $345 per spouse.
First-time registrants who qualify pay only $295 each.
