CCA announces speakers for convention in Long Beach
The California Cleaners Association’s Fabricare 2010 convention seminars will draw on the expertise of a handful of
guest speakers who will cover from building routes to successful marketing
strategies to dealing with management crises and maintenance issues.
The event will take place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA,
Aug. 21-22. The neighboring Hyatt Regency will be the headquarters hotel.
CCA expects more than 100 companies will show their wares in the exhibit hall on
Saturday and Sunday. Seminars held both days will help attendees enhance ther
konwledge before visiting the exhibits.
National Clothesline columnist James Peuster — a.k.a. The Route Pro — will discuss route strategies designed to work in the 21st century.
He will focus on sales and retention, as well as ways cleaners can quickly take
their routes to the next level and conquer the market.
Also on the schedule are two speakers who will focus on successful marketing
techniques.
Milt Chortkoff, owner of Milt & Eddie’s, will share some of his service practices that have made his business one of
the world’s busiest drycleaners.
Also present will be John Zimmerman, the CEO of eRocketFuel.com. He will focus
his discussion on how cleaners can utilize social networking sites to reach out
to more customers.
Norm Korey and Korean speaker Jason Lee will make an appearance to discuss some
maintenance hints that will help keep plant owners productively running their
cleaning equipment with less downtime.
Rounding out the list of speakers is Kenney Slatten of the Kenney Slatten
Training Company who will present a session on “Crisis Management.”

Ins and outs of pricing on SoCal agenda
The Southern California Cleaners Association will soon host a seminar on “The Mystery of Pricing.” It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 at Steven’s Steakhouse at 5332 Steven Place in Commerce, CA.
The program will break down the issue of pricing in the extremely competitive
drycleaning industry. It will look at the dos and don’ts of pricing, answering questions such as: When should you give discounts, and
how much should your discounts be?
The session will also examine the legal ramifications of coupons.
The event will start with cocktails. Dinner will follow. The cost to attend is
$50 for members and $90 for no-members.
