CPDA calling golfers, sponsors for golf benefit
The Central Pennsylvania Dry Cleaners Association will sponsor its 19th annual Carl Gardner Golf Benefit for the Special Olympics on Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Briarwood Golf Club in York, PA.
All proceeds will benefit the York County Special Olympics.
The tournament was started 19 years ago by Carl Gardner as an outlet for cleaners to join together and support a valuable cause while enjoying a relaxing day.
Following Gardner’s death in 2006, the event was renamed to commemorate his work for the association and the Special Olympics.
The entry fee for the tournament is $95 per person or $380 per foursome. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, free range balls, lunch, dinner and beer and soda. Each entrant will get one raffle ticket to win a prize valued at $25 or more.
Last year’s event raised $16,000 for the Special Olympics. That included $5,000 from the helicopter ball drop, which will be held again this year.
Sponsors are also sought for the event, ranging from hole sponsors at $150 on up to Gold Sponsors at $2,000 who receive eight golf entries in addition to scoreboard signage, a banner and distribution of company items during the event.
Briarwood Country Club is located at 4775 West Market Street, York, PA 17404.
For more information on the benefit or to register, contact Paula Kostick, (717) 730-6777, ext. 103.
