WFI readies Kalahari Resort conference
Cleaners planning on attending the Wisconsin Fabricare Institute’s 2010 Fall Conference at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells are advised to
reserve rooms as soon as possible.
WFI has secured a special room rate for members who call the hotel prior to Aug.
11 and mention their affiliation with the association.
The convention, which is slated to take place from Friday, Sept. 10 to Sunday,
Sept. 12, will be held at the resort, a very family-friendly location. It
features an indoor water park that is over 100,000 sq. ft. in size. Visitors
can take a ride on the six-story Ferris wheel, play a game of laser tag or
enjoy 24 lanes of bowling and two high-definition golf simulators.
The discounted cost is $109 plus tax for Desert Rooms, which include two queen
beds and a sofa sleeper and allows up to six people with as many as six
waterpark passes per room.

WFI will kickoff the weekend with a board of directors meeting at 5 p.m. on
Friday night. There will also be a dinner with cash bar at 6:30 p.m. and the
association will host a hospitality in its suite afterward.
Following a buffet breakfast at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, the association will
present a business session at 9 a.m. featuring Gary Vaughan, founding member of
Guident Business Solutions, LLC, in Kimberly, WI. The company offers everything
from strategic planning to financial analysis to marketing strategies to helps
its clients become more profitable and successful.
Vaughan will speak for about two hours on the subject: “Assessing Your Company’s Human Resources IQ.”
After the business session concludes, WFI members can head to the Trapper’s Turn Golf Club for an afternoon on the fairways.
The golf outing is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
Those who wish to participate must register and be confirmed in the WFI office
no later than Tuesday, Aug. 31 when the final count takes place. The cost is
$80, which includes an 18-hole round, cart rental and lunch.
Later in the evening on Saturday, attendees can enjoy WFI’s dinner with cash bar and door prizes at 6:30 p.m. with a hospitality to
follow.
On Sunday morning, the association will host its General Membership Meeting at
9:30 a.m.
The Supplier’s Showcase at 9:45 a.m. will give allied trades representatives a chance to
speak to the group about their companies and highlight new products or services
they have to offer.
As an added bonus, conference-goers can enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the
Kalahari resort laundry and water treatment facilities from 10:15 to 11 a.m.
The convention will conclude with a closing lunch afterward.
WFI is offering an Early Bird discount for attendees who sign up prior to Sept.

Members who opt for full registration packages, which includes everything but golf, can expect
to pay $150 per person prior to that date. Spouses can sign up for the same
package for only $125 before the deadline. After that date, all registration
costs go up $25 per person.
WFI is also offering individual packages for cleaners who would prefer to attend
certain events, but not others.

NCA on packaging in Columbus
The National Cleaners Association will head to Ohio this month to offer an
outreach seminar on “Intensive Inspection and Innovative Packaging.”
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in
Columbus on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
NCA Technical Director Alan Spielvogel will teach attendees how to differentiate
themselves from the competition while charging the price they want and keeping
their customers happy.
In addition to learning about new packaging and inspection materials, he’ll reveal where to buy them and what they cost.
The cost to register is $195 for NCA members and $295 for non-members.
Additional attendees from the same plant pay only $95 each. The seminar is
complimentary for NCA’s Platinum members.
