Hudson acquires Sailstar parts inventory
Hudson Equipment Co. of Hudson, OH, has taken the entire drycleaning parts inventory of Sailstar USA, including drycleaning, pressing, and CO2 parts.
Hudson Equipment is now the exclusive distributor of Sailstar drycleaning parts.
“We are very excited at the opportunity to distribute Sailstar parts nationally,” said company president Frederick “Skip” Wilke.

New owners for Liberty-Pittsburgh
The Reliant Group of New York has acquired  Liberty Pittsburgh Systems Inc. with the assistance of Mervyn Price & Associates LLC, a Dallas-based business restructuring services company.
The Reliant Group, under the management of Jack and Bob Siegel, is a provider of various non-durable plastic and metal products to several industries from several companies.
Kevin Weir, owner of Liberty-Pittsburgh for the past several years, will remain active in the day-to-day operations of the company and will maintain an visible industry presence in supporting Liberty Pittsburgh Systems Inc. customers. He will head up the business development, marketing and sales operations.
Considerable reinvestment has already occurred at Liberty’s Grand Avenue plant in Pittsburgh. The existing equipment and facility are in good condition for volume production and new technology will be added soon, enabling customers to gain real-time access to their order books, new products and specifications and special product requests, as well as direct telephone and electronic access to customer service personnel.

Zips collects clothing for job-seekers
Zips Cleaners completed a successful clothing drive in which 24 of the company’s franchise locations gathered more than 5,000 garments for the Will2Work program held in conjunction with Goodwill.
The program connects job-seekers with garments they need for job interviews. Donations of “gently used business clothing” were solicited in the Zips trading areas in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania and each store then cleaned and pressed the garments. The rejuvenated garments were than gathered by Goodwill which distributed them to people entering the workforce.
Will2Work is one of three such drives conducted by Zips throughout the year. Others include a warm-winter clothing collection in the fall and a prom gown collection in the spring.

Paglia takes position at TCATA
Cheryl Paglia is the new office administrator for the Textile Care Allied Trades Association, replacing Stella Petrasek who retired July 30 after 46 years with TCATA.
Paglia has worked in a variety of businesses from banking software to desktop publishing. A native of New Jersey, she spent seven years in Florida before returning to her home state in 1986.
TCATA CEO David Cotter described Paglia as a “seasoned professional and a jack of all trades.”
“While we all know Stella will be very difficult to replace, Cheryl will be an outstanding addition to TCATA,” Cotter said.
Petrasek and her husband, Daniel, plan to stay in New Jersey, probably moving to the Jersey shore.
