Stain removal, finishing highlight NCA courses
The National Cleaners Association has planned many educational opportunities for the cleaners, including several offerings designed to help improve skills rin emoving stains and making garments look their best.
On Sunday, Feb. 10 in the Bronx, Liz Davies will present a program on “Shirt Finishing” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $249 for members and $358 for non-members (for two people).
NCA will host a few other classes in the Bronx in February, as well, including a two-day “Basic Pressing and Finishing” course that will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16 and 17.
Tuition is $455 for members and $595 for non-members. Those that cannot make this session can try again later in the year on Sept. 21 and 22.
Then, on Sunday, Feb. 24, the association will present a program on “Intermediate Stain Removal and Bleaching” from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The course will be repeated several times throughout the year in Korean (March 24, June 16 and Oct. 27) and English (July 28). The cost is $250 for members and $350 for non-members.
Rounding out the list of NCA classes in February is a five-day, 40-hour course on “Radical Drycleaning/Stain Removal.”
The class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Feb. 11 through 15, in Northvale, NJ. Additional course dates include Aug. 5 through 9. The cost is $750 for members and $995 for non-members.
In March, NCA has scheduled a pair of one-day courses that will cost $250 for members and $350 for non-members.
The first will focus on “Technical Training at the Counter for Customer Service Reps.”
It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 in Nanuet, NY. It will be offered on Sunday, Nov. 24, as well.
The second March class will explore the topic of wetcleaning, taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 in the Bronx. A second installment is planned for Oct. 27.
A sequel of sorts to that course, labeled “Technical Training II — Interactive Training for CSRs,” will come to Nanuet on Sunday, April 7.
Also that month, NCA will host a full-day look at “Advanced Stain Removal and Intensive Bleaching” on Sunday, April 21 in the Bronx. The course is also scheduled for Aug. 25.
Both one-day courses in April will cost $250 for members and $350 for non-members, as will a seminar the following month that will explore “Pressing and Finishing” on Sunday, May 19 in Miami, FL.
Two more eight-hour seminars from NCA will take place in June and July. The first will emphasize “Basic Spotting 101.” It is slated for Sunday, June 9 in the Bronx. The second program will explore spotting on a deeper level. “Extreme Stain Removal” is set for July 14 in Miami, FL.
Both programs begin at 8 a.m. and cost $250 for members and $350 for non-members.
Rounding out the schedule is a seminar on “Avoiding Claims — What You Need to Know About Fabrics and Stain Removal.” It will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8 in Nanuet and will also cost $250 for members and $350 for non-members.
