WFI to explore how to keep business up in down economy
Social events, trivia contests, awards ceremonies and tabletop exhibits will all be featured during the Wisconsin Fabricare Institute’s annual convention this month.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn how to maximize their opportunities to be more successful in a tough economic climate with programs offered by Al Lautenslager and Mary Scalco.
The convention will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, WI.
Registration opens at 6 p.m. on Friday.
At 6:30 p.m., WFI will host a dinner with a “Not so Trivial Pursuit” game with prizes. A hospitality will follow.
Earlier that day, the association will host a meeting of its board of directors at the WTC Campus Building Q. It will take place at 2:30 p.m.
On Saturday morning there will be a breakfast buffet starting at 8 a.m.
Then, from 9 a.m. until noon, there will be time for the allied trades tabletops to set up while cleaners attend the business sessions.
Al Lautenslager, author of “Guerilla Marketing in 30 Days,” will be on hand to present “Drycleaner Marketing Essentials.”
Afterward, Drycleaning and Laundry Institute CEO Mary Scalco will ask the question: What are cleaners doing in a down economy?
She will also discuss DLI tools that cleaners can take advantage of, such as Facebook tips, a drycleaning encyclopedia and Monday morning marketing ideas.
After a break for lunch at noon, the allied trades tabletop trade show will commence from 1 to 2:30 p.m., followed by an auction. WFI will host a banquet dinner and hand out awards of distinction at 7 p.m.
To reserve a room at the Country Springs Hotel, contact them at (800) 247-6640 and mention your affiliation with WFI.
Registration rates for the convention cost $150 per WFI member for access to all events and $250 per non-member if reserved prior to March 6.
After that date, the cost goes up $20. Individual packages are also available.

Tide opens new location in St. Louis
In late January, Tide Drycleaners continued its franchise expansion efforts by adding a new location in Ballwin, MO, making it the first store in the St. Louis area.
As part of its grand opening ceremony, the Tide store offered discounts to customers and also partnered with Cars 4 Heroes in order to donate a car to a military veteran.
“Now the people of Ballwin get to experience the value of great quality, service and convenience that Tide Dry Cleaners has introduced in other markets across the country,” said Brian Bruce, the franchisee for the St. Louis store.
Some of the features Tide franchise stores use to differentiate themselves in the marketplace include: drive-thru concierge services, 24-hour pickup and drop-off convenience and GreenEarth technology and Tide fabric care cleaning solutions for wetcleaning and drycleaning.
