GreenEarth joins Sustainable Apparel Coalition
GreenEarth Cleaning has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, a collaboration with leading retailers and manufacturers working toward the goal of sustainable apparel production and after-care that produces no unnecessary environmental harm and has a positive impact on the people and communities they serve.
Through SAC, more than eighty apparel and footwear brands, retailers, suppliers, nonprofits, and NGOs are working to reduce the environmental and social impacts of apparel and footwear products around the world.
The focus of SAC is The Higg Index that measures the environmental performance of apparel products. Future versions will include footwear products and measure social performance.

Labels CEO named Executive of the Year
Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning in Hanover, MA, received the “Franchise Executive of the Year” award from the New England Franchise Association (NEFA).
Dubois earned this honor based on his key role in the franchise’s growth, commitment to the environment through its drycleaning processes, its outreach to recruit veterans and its efforts in the community.
“Under Kevin’s leadership, Lapels has raised the bar when it comes to its business practices and how much the company and its franchisees give back to the communities they serve,” said Murray Vetstein, president of the New England Franchise Association. “Kevin is a most worthy recipient of Franchisor of the Year.”
Dubois accepted the award at the associations’s Franchise Relations Summit this spring.
“Considering the high caliber of franchise executives in NEFA and the area which the association covers —the six New England states — this truly is an honor,” said Dubois.

Tide opens Illinois location
The first Tide drycleaning store in Illinois was nearly ready for opening in late June.
Raj Patel, president of The Hari Group, who with his father, Bud Patel, owns the franchise that is planning the Naperville, IL, opening. A second location is expected to open in Glen Ellyn, IL.
The Hari Group owns Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, Jersey Mike’s and Buffalo Wings and Rings, all franchises located in Naperville, except the Jersey Mike’s in Glen Ellyn.
“There is no bigger name in laundry care than Tide,” Patel said. “And there’s the green technology and the brightness of the plant.”
The store will be open 7-days a week, will have a drive-up and will also offer services such as leather cleaning, alterations and fabric refreshing. The business will employ about 15 to 20 people.
“We are not the cheapest and not the most expensive, but we are the best quality,” Patel said.
