SEFA plans 2014 SLDS trade show in Jacksonville
The South Eastern Fabricare Association will bring its Southern Drycleaners and Launderers Show to Jacksonville, FL, for the first time next year.
The show, with the theme “Your Ticket for Success,” will be held at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center June 20-22. The convention center is located in an old railway station, and many of the components have been adapted into the current setting, complete with a locomotive in the parking area.
SEFA has chosen Hyatt Regency Riverfront as the host hotel. It is within walking distance of The Landing.
SEFA has also hired a new management company for the show, BPS Communications of Willow Grove, PA, which is also the management company for the Pennsylvania and Delaware Cleaners Association and produces PDCA’s Drycleaning & Laundry Expo in Atlantic City. BPS is also the publisher of
National Clothesline.
Among changes coming for the 2014 show will be free admission for attendees. More details, including the booth applications and a floor plan, will be available soon on the SEFA website,

NCALC peer management group to meet
The North Carolina Association of Launderers and Cleaners will continue its peer management group program in conjunction with Methods for Management with one more meeting schedule for 2013 and another for 2014.
So far, the group has met three times, most recently last month, a meeting hosted by Alan Hargis of A Cleaner Tomorrow in Angier, NC.
The concept is for non-competing cleaners to gather and tour a plant and offer constructive criticism of the operation, analyzing factors such as efficiency, quality, service and profitability. Diane Vollmer of Methods for Management acts as the facilitator for the group.
The meetings include a tour of the host company’s operations along with interactive discussions, information and data sharing and peer support and feedback.
The group is next scheduled to meet on Dec. 13 and 14 at John Kim’s Glamorama/Perfect Image/Kim’s Alterations business in Fayetteville, NC. In the first quarter of next year, Jeremy Tutt will host one at his Dixie Cleaner’s plant in Kannapolis, NC, March 14 and 15.
Non-competing NCALC members can join the group. For information, contact Diana Vollmer at Methods for Management, (415) 577-6544, or Fred Miller at NCALC, (704) 689-1301.
